How do we know what the sun really looks like?
Were we born knowing or did they teach us right?
As children, did we sneak a peek of mom and dad and God’s face?
Did we rip the curtains and completely forget our place?

Have we always known?
Will we ever grow?

Did we ever believe the sun wears shades and smiles with white teeth?
Or that Hades awaits us in a fiery kingdom underneath
When did pink and orange skies feel like such confusion
Do we know blind spots are what make all of us human?

We will all leave our homes
When our hearts need to roam

The cyclops is burning with something like indifference
But his eye shines a light on all of our ignorance
He will eat us in time and we will vanish from this place
So help us move this stone; it’s our chance at a little bit of grace

We must all bring the fight
Just don’t look into the light
